BIO GRAPHY
Born in 1995, Corentin Boissier began composing at the piano when he was six. He was discovered by the composer and organist Thierry Escaich, who wrote: « He already possesses qualities that portend his becoming an accomplished musician: a genuine sense of harmonic color, of rhythmic invention, and an understanding of the process of thematic development. All these qualities point to a free spirit with a true gift for musical composition ».
He studied at the CRR of Paris in the Specialized Classes of Musical Writing and Orchestration, getting both Diplomas of Musical Studies (DEM) “With Highest Distinction”. In 2019 he obtained the Master of Superior Musical Writing at the National Superior Conservatory of Music (CNSM) of Paris, with four Prizes “With Highest Distinction” (Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue & Forms, Polyphony); in 2021 he got his Master of Superior Orchestration “With Highest Distinction”.
Eager to write a directly accessible classical music, Corentin Boissier composed to date around thirty works in a neo-romantic spirit. His ballade for alto saxophone and piano From Midnight to Dawn was premiered during the 2014 Musical Festival of Bagnac-sur-Célé by the duo Christine Marchais and Marc Sieffert. In February 2018 his Piano Sonata No. 2 "Appassionata" was premiered by concert pianist Célia Oneto Bensaid at the Salle Cortot, in Paris. A video recording, made in studio, has been uploaded on YouTube. His Sonata for Cello and Piano was performed by Jordi Albelda and Nicolas Licciardi during the final concert of the festival Cambra Romànica 2019 (Principality of Andorra).

His suite for guitar Don Juan Serenade was premiered by Gabrielle Rubio in August 2019 during the Festival de Musique classique de La Llagonne. His Sonata for Flute and Piano was premiered in United States by Melinda Wade-English and Woobin Park in October 2021. His Concertino for Trumpet, String Quartet and Piano, composed for French trumpeter Lise Bergeon, is performed at the Salle Cortot in February 2022, then at the Conservatory of Paris in May as part of her Master’s Recital.
Interested in different sides of musical writing, Corentin Boissier is also active as an orchestrator and arranger. Notably, his orchestration of the ninth of Alfredo Casella’s Nine Pieces for piano, Op. 24, was performed by the Orchestre des Gardiens de la Paix in 2016 at the Church of St. Joseph des Nations in Paris; his orchestration of Debussy’s Passepied was performed at the Auditorium Marcel Landowski (Paris); his arrangement of the jazz standard Caravan was performed by the Local Brass Quintet in the Musée de l’Orangerie in 2017.
Since 2019 he is the Artistic Coordinator of the "Festival de Musique classique de La Llagonne" (Pyrénées-Orientales, France) organized every year during the summer season. He is currently working on his Ph.D. thesis in Musicology at the Sorbonne.
His two piano concertos (Glamour Concerto and Philip Marlowe Concerto) were recorded by British concertist Valentina Seferinova and the Ukrainian Festival Orchestra under the direction of American conductor John McLaughlin Williams. The CD was released in April 2021 by the British label Toccata Classics. In January 2022, a second CD, devoted to his chamber music, was released by Toccata Classics. It features his Cello Sonata, Flute Sonata and Piano Trio.

Né en 1995, Corentin Boissier compose sur partition dès l’âge de six ans. Il est remarqué par le compositeur Thierry Escaich : « Il possède déjà de réelles qualités qui feront de lui un musicien complet. Il a déjà un véritable sens de la couleur harmonique, un sens de l’invention et surtout du renouvellement, une invention rythmique – bref, diverses ouvertures d’esprit qui laissent présager un réel tempérament de créateur ».
Après avoir suivi les cycles spécialisés d’Écriture et d’Orchestration au CRR de Paris où il obtient les deux Diplômes d’Etudes Musicales (DEM) avec "Mention Très Bien", il termine en 2019 le Master d’Écriture Supérieure au CNSM de Paris avec quatre Prix "Mention Très Bien" (Harmonie, Contrepoint, Fugue & Formes, Polyphonie) ; en 2021 il obtient son Master d’Orchestration Supérieure avec "Mention Très Bien à l’unanimité".
Désireux d’écrire une musique classique directement accessible, Corentin Boissier a composé à ce jour une trentaine d’œuvres dans un esprit néo-romantique. Sa ballade pour saxophone alto et piano De Minuit à l’Aube est créée aux Musicales de Bagnac-sur-Célé de 2014 par le duo Christine Marchais et Marc Sieffert. En février 2018, sa Sonate pour piano n°2 "Appassionata" a été créée à la Salle Cortot, à Paris, par la concertiste Célia Oneto Bensaid. Un enregistrement vidéo réalisé en studio a été mis en ligne sur YouTube. Sa Sonate pour violoncelle et piano est interprétée par Jordi Albelda et Nicolas Licciardi pour le concert de clôture du festival Cambra Romànica 2019 (Principauté d’Andorre). Plus récemment, sa suite pour guitare Don Juan Serenade a été créée par Gabrielle Rubio en août 2019 durant le Festival de Musique classique de La Llagonne. Sa Sonate pour flûte et piano a été créée aux États-Unis par Melinda Wade-English et Woobin Park en octobre 2021. Son Concertino pour trompette, quatuor à cordes et piano, composé à la demande de la trompettiste Lise Bergeon, est créé à la Salle Cortot en février 2022 puis interprété au CNSM de Paris en mai lors de son récital de Master.

Attiré par tous les aspects de l’Écriture musicale, Corentin Boissier consacre une part de son activité à l’orchestration et à l’arrangement. Son orchestration de la 9ème des Neuf Pièces pour piano op. 24 d’Alfredo Casella est jouée par l’orchestre des Gardiens de la Paix en 2016 à l’Église Saint-Joseph des Nations ; son orchestration du Passepied de Debussy est donnée en concert à l’Auditorium Marcel Landowski à Paris ; son arrangement du standard jazz Caravan, pour le Local Brass Quintet, est joué au Musée de l’Orangerie, à Paris, en 2017.
En 2019 l’Association "Le Capil" pour la promotion du patrimoine de La Llagonne (Pyrénées-Orientales) le nomme Coordinateur artistique chargé des concerts de musique classique (musique de chambre et musique instrumentale) organisés chaque année durant la saison estivale. Il travaille actuellement sur sa thèse de Doctorat de Musicologie à la Sorbonne.
Ses deux concertos pour piano et orchestre (Glamour Concerto et Philip Marlowe Concerto) ont été enregistrés par la concertiste britannique Valentina Seferinova et l’Ukrainian Festival Orchestra sous la direction du chef d’orchestre américain John McLaughlin Williams. Le CD est édité en avril 2021 par le label britannique Toccata Classics. En janvier 2022, un deuxième CD, celui-ci consacré à sa musique de chambre, est édité, toujours chez Toccata Classics.
